Gas Springs are used in a variety of applications, such as guarding of machinery used in the food packaging, brewery and woodworking machinery industries. The design is such that gas springs can overcome the deadweight of a guard, lid or access hatch. Dependent on the force and fixing positions of the spring or springs, a hatch or guard can open immediately after release of a locking catch and remain in the open position. Closing is also made easier as after the initial hand movement, the gas springs will assist in closing.
Gas springs can operate in temperatures from -25degC to +80degC and if fitted correctly have a guarantee of 12 months and more. Various measures of oil are included to give a smooth movement and end of stroke damping.
